General Pharmaceutical Council

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is responsible for the independent regulation of over 70,000 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy premises in England, Scotland and Wales.

Our remit is to protect, promote and maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of patients, the public and of all those who use pharmacy services.

Our role is prescribed under the Pharmacy Order 2010, and other legislation, such as the Medicines Act.

We are made up of an appointed governing council of professionals and lay people who oversee the work of the executive and the staff of the organisation.

This section provides more information about the structure of these parts of the organisation and the vision and strategy we aim to fulfil as an organisation.
